Elected Officials for the Town of Blaine Lake
The Town of Blaine Lake elects its mayor and town councilors through a general municipal election held every four years.
Elections are conducted in accordance with The Municipalities Act of Saskatchewan and the Local Government Election Act, which governs how local government representatives are chosen across the province. Residents of Blaine Lake who meet the eligibility requirements as outlined in provincial legislation have the right to vote in municipal elections. Candidates for mayor and council must also meet specific eligibility criteria, including being a Canadian citizen, being at least 18 years of age, and being a resident or property owner within the municipality.
The mayor is elected directly by eligible voters and serves as the head of council. Town councilors are similarly elected by the public to represent the interests of the community. Both the mayor and councilors serve a four-year term of office, with elections typically held in October of the election year.
All elected representatives of the Town of Blaine Lake are expected to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability. Council members must act in the best interests of the community, treat residents and fellow members with respect, avoid conflicts of interest, and maintain confidentiality as required by law. They are also expected to communicate honestly, make decisions based on merit and public good, and practice ethical governance throughout their term.
